Within the framework of the Hightech Agenda Bavaria, FAU invites applications for up to two

at the new Department of Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering. The professorships are full-time and permanent positions to be filled by the earliest possible starting date.

• medical robotics (e.g. healthcare robots, surgical robots)
• intelligent prosthetics (e.g. smart prosthetics, wearable robotics: exoskeletons and orthoses, intelligent implants)

The successful candidates will be expected to participate in teaching on the new consecutive Bachelor’s / Master’s degree programme in Artificial Intelligence and to be involved in setting up this new degree programme. The professors will also be expected to contribute to existing degree programmes such as Medical Engineering, Medical Process Management, and Data Science. The professors will be members of the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Engineering.

Successful candidates show an excellent academic track record in research and teaching at the highest international standards. You have substantial research experience abroad as well as experience in managing research projects and in raising third-party funding. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree as well as a passion for education and pertinent teaching experience are prerequisites. Candidates who are able and willing to teach in both English and German are desired. The position also requires additional postdoctoral qualifications. These should be in the form of a habilitation (postdoctoral thesis) or equivalent academic qualifications. You may also have acquired these necessary qualifications in a non-university context or through a junior faculty position (for example as W 1 Professor or Assistant Professor).
