Fraunhofer FIT is shaping the future by linking knowledge from information technology with questions from other areas of life with the aim of developing tailor-made solutions that support people in their work processes and help them in their leisure time.
The University of Bayreuth’s Faculty of Law, Business & Economics and Fraunhofer FIT – in particular, its branch Business & Information Systems Engineering (FIT-WI) – work together in the field of Information Systems. The combination of the professorship with a leading role at Fraunhofer FIT is based on the expectation that a significant contribution will be made to the inter-university cooperation of the University of Bayreuth with the Fraunhofer FIT, in particular FIT-WI. In addition, the professorship will assume a leadership role in the FIM Research Institute for Information Management at the University of Bayreuth.
We are looking for a dynamic and creative scholar with the ability to work independently and with a high potential for development in research, teaching, and transfer. A clear research profile with a focus on data science is expected, i.e., on the development and application of modern methods, processes, and systems of data acquisition, data processing, and data analysis in a business context. A focus on design-oriented and analytical-quantitative methods would be an asset. Initial publication successes in renowned scientific journals are expected as well as initial experience with both publicly and industry-funded projects and the ambition to establish and lead a research group in a dynamic environment. The position therefore requires very good teamwork skills and initial experience working in highly connected, interdisciplinary teams.
The successful candidate will be involved in research and teaching as well as in third-party funded projects. This requires intensive and proactive collaboration with public funding bodies and cooperation partners from industry. An active role in the faculty’s bachelor’s and master’s courses (e.g. in Business Administration, Information Systems, Finance & Information Management, and Health Economics), in both German and English, is desired, as is the willingness to work together with employees at all Fraunhofer FIT locations on an interdisciplinary basis. You can expect a wide range of projects with a high degree of practical relevance, a great deal of creative freedom in research, and an environment that actively promotes young talent and offers attractive development opportunities.
